This is one of the big collections, the same as volumes 3 and 4. There was a lot more action than in volume 2, and the action here was more meaningful. Nick Fury's appearance was underwhelming. I suppose he could have been more useless, but it's hard to imagine how. Still, the part where this title shines is when Peter interacts one-on-one with the people he cares about. His relationship with Mary Jane (just Mary in Ultimate Spidey, but I have a hard time dropping Jane) is very cute and sincere, and I do like what Bendis has done with Aunt May. I'm unconvinced about this rebellious version of Gwen, though.
